Faro’s new high-precision technology at Southern Manufacturing 2022

Faro is a brand known for manufacturing meteorology and composite industry products that give precise 3D measurement, imaging, and realization for various machine parts.

The company has introduced three high-precision products including a Faro Tracer laser projector, Quantum S Max measurement arm, and a Faro tracking laser. The Tracer is used over layups for positioning components in composite industries such as motorsport, aerospace, and marine. This technology enables operators to work easily, helping to eliminate jigs and fixtures as well as the costs associated with these. It can be ceiling mounted and gives a 15m x 15m window if you’re 15m away.

The Tracer provides a projection accuracy of 0.25 mm.Next, we have the Quantum S Max, Faro’s measurement arm which is a full scan system with an accuracy of 38 microns. The probing feature allows for an accuracy of 20 microns. Its internal counterbalance means it can be used with one arm and therefore accounts for health and safety as well. Powered by a very easy-to-use clever software, it needs no guidance.

Registering the 7-axis and 8-axis, it creates objects as soon as the user starts moving it around. It can take up to 100 kilos in weight and provides an accuracy of 1.2 million points per second. The third product is the Faro tracking laser, which is used for large scale meteorology as well as planes, trains, and automobiles. It can be used to align wings, backdoors, and rail sections overa period of 35m, 80m or as required.

The laser tracker follows the SMR, and when the user goes around the plane, it aligns the wing in the right orientation or position. It’s a revolutionary line of sight product and provides an accuracy of about 90 microns over 10m. The tracking laser is used in various space applications and helps get everything right when it comes to alignment, apertures, and positioning.
