EB Motorsport Race to Win with HAAS Automation

For over 60 years EB Equipment, a family run Yorkshire based business have built an enviable reputation for high quality agricultural storage tanks & silos, conveying solutions & feeding systems. But it’s the family’s passion for motorsport, specifically classic & racing Porsche 911’s that bought about the formation of EB Motorsport some 15 years ago. As Mark Bates from EB Motorsports explains when he and his brother James decided to restore a 1973 Porsche 911 to go racing it quickly became obvious that the lack of original or even reproduction parts were unavailable so the brothers decided to manufacture their own. With early success the demand for their parts grew as more & more parts were requested from their rivals, desperate to keep pace with EB’s race winning cars. James Leet from HAAS Automation explains how EB Motorsport took control of the process, setting up their own CNC machine shop, manufacturing and reverse engineering components that are no longer available. EB’s first machine, a HAAS ST10 lathe with “Y” axis was crucial due to the complexity of the parts and materials used, mainly exotic light weight difficult to machine materials such as magnesium and titanium. With the addition of a HAAS UMC 750, a full 5 axis machining centre, EB were able to produce much lager and more complex components such as gearbox housings. Some of the original HAAS machines are now ready to be replaced with the latest models from HAAS, continuing a winning partnership. EB Motorsport are the go to company for classic & racing Porsche 911 parts world wide, all made on HAAS Automation machines.
