Rowan explored the SX-38 Type A, a model blending features from SV, ST, and SR series, during the recent Star GB Open House with Alec. This machine, designed for expanded capabilities and heightened productivity, features a gang type tool post and a 10-station turret on the main spindle for simultaneous operations. The turret’s independent Z3 axis facilitates dual-feature machining using Star’s “super-position” control mode. With Fanuc’s 31i-B5 control, the SX-38 Type A offers full five-axis capability, allowing the processing of highly complex components. Additionally, the programmable B-axis on the platen facilitates angular machining on both the main and sub-spindle.
