Mitsubishi Electric Automation has introduced the MELFA RV-12CRL vertically articulated robot, a key addition to its low-cost robot series. With an impressive reach of 1,504mm, the RV-12CRL boasts the largest reach of any robot in this cost-effective line. Designed for a variety of industrial applications, this robot has a 12kg payload capacity, making it an ideal candidate for machine tending, case packing, and pick-and-place tasks.
The MELFA RV-12CRL robot offers a broad work envelope, allowing it to perform complex tasks that require substantial reach without the need for an additional vertical axis. The robot is engineered to streamline implementation and reduce downtime, with built-in features that enhance both safety and ease of use. By eliminating the need for a separate vertical axis, the RV-12CRL delivers a more efficient and cost-effective solution for users seeking reliable automation at a lower price point.
The robot comes equipped with internal cables and air hoses for end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), including 30 pins for signal cabling. This integration reduces clutter and simplifies maintenance. In addition, Mitsubishi Electric has enhanced the robot’s reliability by using MELSERVO-J5 servo motors, which feature battery-less encoders, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming encoder battery maintenance.
Safety is a key consideration with the RV-12CRL, featuring the CR800 controller to provide robust safety monitoring capabilities. The robot’s versatility extends to its EOAT configurations, offering customers the flexibility to select the most appropriate tooling for various tasks, further increasing its adaptability for different industrial applications.
Curtis Sylliaasen, Product Manager (Robot) at Mitsubishi Electric Automation, highlighted the significance of the RV-12CRL robot’s launch, noting that it allows customers to experience the quality and performance of Mitsubishi’s industrial robots at the price point of a collaborative robot. This makes the RV-12CRL an exciting option for businesses looking to automate their operations with reliable, cost-effective robotics technology.
