Hurco Companies has unveiled the TM8MYi slant-bed lathe, designed to offer enhanced multiaxis turning capabilities for various machining operations. This new model integrates live tooling capabilities and a Y-axis, enabling the machining of pockets with straight walls and flat bottoms, as well as off-center machining tasks, expanding the lathe’s versatility.
Equipped with a BMT55 turret and a bi-directional, servo-driven live tool that can reach speeds up to 5,000 RPM, the TM8MYi excels in dynamic milling, drilling, and tapping. This functionality ensures precision and speed, making it ideal for a wide range of machining applications.
The lathe also features a Renishaw swing-down tool setter for quick and efficient setups, linear roller ways that reduce vibration and increase rigidity, and direct-drive linear axes that offer faster axis response and improved accuracy. With these components, the machine delivers enhanced performance and stability during operations.
The TM8MYi slant-bed lathe comes with an 8-inch chuck, a maximum turning diameter of 12.60 inches, and a drag-and-drop tailstock, offering excellent flexibility for handling various turning operations. The main spindle delivers 15.5 horsepower and 72.4 ft.-lbs. of continuous torque, ensuring reliable and high-performance machining.
Additionally, the lathe is equipped with Hurco’s intuitive control system, which combines both conversational programming and NC programming through its unique NC/Conversational Merge feature. This allows operators to benefit from the best of both programming worlds, increasing productivity and operational ease.
