LIVE – New STAR Lathes, launched at this year’s Open House
Paul speaks with Alec in detail about two of the new models being shown at this…
Rowan visits GA Sliding Head in Dundee, a sliding head machine shop with over 26 Sliding head star machines!
He takes a look at their small batch cells utilising the Star SR-10 to produce some really tiny parts down to .4mm! These machines have excellent repeatability meaning batches of up to 1000 are no problem.
He then moves over to their larger batch cells using the Star SR-20 for bigger parts.
No material is too much of a challenge for GA Sliding Head, with them working in stainless steels, UNS, copper, beryllium copper, and even PEEK. Their software based management system allows GA to sort their materials by colour code.
A comprehensive inspection suite finishes the tour with manual shadowgraphs for low volume work, and VICIVISION measurement systems for high volume runs!
