In this episode of Swarf & Chips we find MTDCNC’s Colin & Rowan at Kail & Co. in Sunderland. Over the years Kail & Co. have invested heavily in new plant & machinery. They have an extensive range of Doosan & Matsuura CNC lathes & machining centres, including 5 axis, as well as a large Toshiba Vertical Borer that can turn up to 1.3 metres, all with FANUC controls. They also have EDM wire machines for those difficult to machine intricate parts. Kail & Co. have also invested in OPEN MIND HyperMILL CAD CAM software for off line programming to help speed up production. Kail & Co. are producing some large high value parts for the oil & gas industry, but also many smaller parts where their Matsuura machining centres with up to 32 pallets mean they can run lights out at night or weekends. Automation is playing a larger & more important part in Kail’s workshop to help keep them at the forefront of manufacturing & one step ahead of the competition, the recent purchase of a CELLRO robotic loading & unloading system is all part of their long term plan. With an impressive plant list and regular investment in the latest technology Kail & Co. are a company going places.
