Crewe, UK – Bentley Motors has officially opened its Excellence Centre for Quality & Launch, a new cutting-edge facility pivotal to the brand’s preparations for the launch of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV). The new centre, unveiled earlier this week by Gunnar Kilian, Member of the Board of Management at Volkswagen AG, along with Bentley’s Board of Management, marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing transformation and future in electrification.
The opening of this state-of-the-art centre represents a crucial step in Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy, which aims to reinvent the company’s entire product range and support the shift to an electrified future. The facility is set to play a central role in the development of Bentley’s first Urban Luxury SUV, the world’s first luxury electric SUV, which is slated for launch in 2026.
Located across two floors and covering a total of 8,000m², the new Excellence Centre for Quality & Launch is designed to support the development of new BEV technologies while setting a new benchmark for the future of luxury automobiles. Bentley’s commitment to sustainability is at the heart of the facility, which supports Bentley’s vision for a zero environmental impact manufacturing process.
Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, highlighted the significance of the new centre, saying, “The Excellence Centre for Quality & Launch is a key building block for the successful delivery of the Beyond100+ strategy. The facility represents a major step forward in transforming our historic Crewe site into a world-leading hub for sustainable luxury automotive production.”
The centre houses a production proving ground, a mini assembly line for testing future BEV assembly processes, and a technical centre for materials testing, dimensional measurement, vehicle analysis, and reliability. All of these components work together to ensure the quality, performance, and longevity expected of every Bentley vehicle.
Bentley’s shift to electrification is in full motion, and the opening of the Excellence Centre marks the next phase in the brand’s transition to electric mobility. The centre will act as a collaborative workspace for both the Quality & Launch teams, ensuring that Bentley’s commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and unparalleled quality is upheld as the company embarks on the creation of its first electric vehicles.
