New technology, networking, and collaboration at the Tebis Open House in Munich
MTDCNC are in Munich at the 20th Tebis Open House to speak to industry experts and…
Milled high quality surface finish is a frequent requirement in the manufacturing sector. With Tebis CAD/CAM, high quality surface finish is one of the key benefits.
Tebis maintains a strong emphasis on machining surface finish quality with a few key technologies, such as machining on true surface CAD model, user controllable point distribution, support for full forms of tool geometry, advanced machining toolpath strategies, as well as utilising automated surfaces. All of these technologies help to produce consistent high accuracy and high quality surface finish.
Machining on True Surface CAD Model
Many other CAM systems on the market calculate toolpaths on triangulated mesh even for imported CAD data with surface or solid models. Tebis CAD/CAM software offers the capability to calculate toolpaths on true surface CAD model which ensures high machining accuracy and surface finish.
Point Distribution
With Tebis, it is possible for the user to control the point distribution within toolpaths across a 3D machined area. This is very important when machining against fine details or precise features within a surface area. This can be easily achieved with Tebis by the user within programming operations.
Point distribution options allow a more detailed calculation of toolpath to emphasise feature edges on part surface data. Tebis software also has specialist functions to analyse topological and geometrical defects, highly segmented surfaces and unnecessary surface patches.
Precise Tool Geometry and Advanced Tooling Library
Precise tool geometry support and advanced tooling library is the ability to predefine cutting conditions such as, speeds, feeds, cutting widths and cutting depths with the actual tool geometry. These can be referenced against specific machines, materials and operation types to create the most consistent and optimised tool cutting conditions no matter who, what or how you are programming. Tebis is also capable of programming using circle segment tooling which gives time savings and potential improvements in surface finish.
Cutting parameters
What makes Tebis CAD/CAM different from other software providers is the many more types of machining parameters stored with it and the way Tebis deals with and uses the data. The advanced manufacturing parameters are organised in machining groups and include spindle speeds, feed rates, step-down feed rates, fullwidth feed rates and corner feed rates, as well as cutting widths, depths and coolants, etc. These stored best practice parameters are useful not only to new users but also to experienced users so as that they don’t need to remember the parameters or taking the time to check the cutting tool manuals. Without the advanced cutting tool library, it is quite often that the best practice manufacturing parameters may not always be used so as that machining quality and efficiency may be compromised.
Integrated digital twins technology for Safe CNC Machining
With Tebis CAD/CAM, collisions can be detected while calculating NC programs. Collisions can be immediately identified and avoided with the appropriate collision avoidance strategies. The most appropriate strategy depends primarily on the specific component geometry, the machining task and especially the available machine. This knowledge can be stored in NC machining templates. This means that the CAM programmer only needs to select the machine and machining elements. The appropriate collision avoidance strategy – with area reduction, simultaneous 5-axis avoidance milling or indexed machining – is then automatically assigned in each case.
Reserve engineering
Tebis reverse engineering quickly generates virtual twins of real forming and injection moulding dies. Existing CAD data can also be considered. In many cases, reverse engineering is an extremely useful tool.
