ABU DHABI – EPI, a key entity within the EDGE Group and a cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil & gas, and defence sectors, has successfully extended its contract with Airbus Atlantic, a global leader in aerostructures and a vital part of Airbus. The extended agreement, which now runs through 2031, focuses on manufacturing class 1 flight-critical airframes for the A320 and A330 aircraft programmes.
This collaboration will see EPI continue to apply its cutting-edge technology, including advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining with capabilities of up to 7 meters in length, alongside specialized processes and paint procedures. These operations are conducted within EPI’s fully automated, merit-approved installation, ensuring high-quality production standards.
Additionally, EPI will implement in-process and final inspections to guarantee manufacturing stability, utilizing state-of-the-art technology such as the 7-meter Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), a highly sophisticated system ensuring precision and accuracy in every component produced.
The extended contract includes the manufacturing of key flight-critical airframe components such as fuselage frames and floor beams, for both single-aisle (A320, A321) and long-range (A330, A340) aircraft.
Michael Deshaies, Chief Executive Officer of EPI, commented: “This contract extension is a testament to our proven expertise and the trust our partners place in us. It aligns with our strategic goals and strengthens the UAE’s aerospace sector. We’re proud to be contributing to Airbus Atlantic’s efforts and supporting the growth of local manufacturing through the ‘Make It in the Emirates’ initiative.”
Over the next seven years, EPI will play a pivotal role in Airbus’ ramp-up efforts, especially within the Single Aisle Programme, providing comprehensive support to meet Airbus Atlantic’s exacting standards, including skill development, technological advancements, and certification requirements. This extended collaboration underscores EPI’s commitment to furthering the growth of the UAE’s aviation industry and fortifying its position as a leader in aerospace manufacturing.
