What do you know about Romi Machines?
Romi Machines UK is part of the Romi group, Brazil’s largest machinery manufacturer. Established in 1975…
During EMO 2019, Romi will be presenting its new generation of Horizontal Turning Centres, the ROMI GL line that offers high productivity with robustness, precision and technology.
The new line includes ROMI GL 250, ROMI GL 300, ROMI GL 350 and ROMI GL 450 models, and is designed to operate in medium and high production environments. Its robust structure with a monobloc casting bed is ideal for machining requiring high power and torque, ensuring high performance and more precision. With the thermal compensation system, stable dimensional results can be obtained even with temperature fluctuations over long working periods. Models offer feed speed of 30m / min on X and Z axes.
For Romi CEO Luiz Cassiano Rando Rosolen, the new generation portrays the company’s position on technology. “We seek to anticipate the market need by developing machines that bring significant customer gains, increasing productivity, process accuracy and high technology, indispensable requirements for the new generation of the industry.”
Another differential is the main headstock with built-in motor, a compact system when compared to conventional ones. It consists of a motor incorporated in the spindle cartridge, whereby the rotor is coupled to the spindle and the stator is presented fixed to the housing itself, thus eliminating pulley and belt, which guarantees excellent power level, high torque at low revs , stability, low inertia and many other advantages.
The new generation ROMI GL Line is available in four different versions: First the T version which is equipped with 12 position turret for fixed tools and servo-driven swivel head. The M versionis equipped with a 12 position turret for powered tools and a servo-driven swivel head. The Y-Version is equipped with 12 position turret and Y-axis with stroke up to 150mm (+ or – 75mm), allowing milling, drilling and tapping operations outside the centreline on the main spindle. The Version S is equipped with a 12 position Y-axis powered turret, whichalso features a sub-spindle with built-in motor type, enabling the machining of both sides of the workpiece.
The CNC includes the new HMI control from Fanuc, which offers the ease of programming with conversational machining cycles. Version S accounts with the CNC Fanuc 32i-i B -HMI touchscreen display colour LED 19 ”. Versions T, M and Y have the CNC Fanuc 0i-TF i -HMI with coloured LED touchscreen display 15. Available on the New Generation are options for planning, machining, enhancements and utilities on the main screen and allowing access to the functions with just two clicks, plus Ethernet interface, Compact Flash card drive/USB port.
All models can be equipped with several options, such as automatic door, swarf conveyor, mist extractor, wash gun, parts catcher, automatic parts loader/unloader, etc… Perfectly adapting the Romi GL Series to most of the machining need due to its versatility.
The new generation of the Horizontal Turning Centres bring the renewal of the renowned GL Line, which already serves the market with excellence and now also has a friendlier interface and easy operation. In the new generation, great levels of accuracy have been achieved and more technology is added that will result in more productivity and customer return. Says Douglas Pedro de Alcântara, Romi Product Development Manager.
