NCMT, a leading machine tool supplier, has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering talent and innovation in both motorsport and engineering by announcing the continuation of its sponsorship of the University of Wolverhampton Racing (UWR) team for the 2025 season. Building on a successful partnership that began in 2023, NCMT will provide ongoing support to both the Morgan Racecar and the new UWR Revolution 500 EVO racecar.
The Revolution 500 EVO, which was unveiled at the Autosport International show in Birmingham on 9 January 2025, marks a key milestone in UWR’s racing journey. This season, the car will compete in the newly-formed Equipe Sports Prototypes series, a multi-class racing championship for lightweight prototype sports cars. Shane Kelly, a racing driver and UWR team manager, will take the wheel, with the university’s student-run racing team responsible for assembling and maintaining the car throughout the season.
The continuation of NCMT’s sponsorship further strengthens its commitment to hands-on experience and real-world engineering applications. Through a partnership with Revolution Race Cars, NCMT and the university will collaborate to create additional learning opportunities, offering students invaluable exposure to competitive motorsport at Revolution’s Peterborough factory. This collaboration seamlessly integrates academic theory with practical engineering experience, ensuring that UWR students are equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in the motorsport industry upon graduation.
The university will also offer Revolution Race Cars access to its advanced prototyping facilities, facilitating a mutually beneficial exchange that enhances both educational and industrial development.
Ian Horton, Sales Director at NCMT, commented, “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with UWR. The team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of engineering performance is inspiring, and we are excited to support their journey. We look forward to seeing the 500 EVO in action and are proud to be part of their success as they aim for even greater achievements in the 2025 season.”
This ongoing collaboration highlights NCMT’s role in shaping the future of engineering and motorsport through education, innovation, and real-world experience.
