Vestas Secures 224MW Wind Turbine Order for Major Swedish Projects

Vestas Wind Systems A/S, headquartered in Denmark, has received a significant 224MW order from Vinliden Vindkraft AB for two large-scale wind energy projects in Sweden: the 70MW Vinliden and the 154MW Fjällberg projects. These developments are a joint venture between funds managed by Prime Capital AG and Polhem Infra, two prominent players in the Nordic renewables and infrastructure sectors.

Sweden is recognized as a leader in onshore wind energy, boasting one of Europe’s highest shares of renewable energy within its power grid. Both projects will be located in the Västerbotten County of Northern Sweden, an area known for its long-standing involvement in the renewable energy sector. The region continues to attract new companies eager to invest in energy initiatives, making it an ideal location for these new projects.

The order includes the supply, delivery, and commissioning of 35 V162-6.4MW wind turbines. Of these, 24 turbines will be installed at the Fjällberg site, and 11 at Vinliden. All turbines will be equipped with Vestas’ Anti-icing Solution to ensure optimal performance in the cold Nordic climate. Once the projects are completed, Vestas will continue to support the turbines under a long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, which will ensure the turbines’ performance is continuously optimized with the help of local service technicians.

Anna Schlasberg Wachtmeister, Vice President of Sales North West at Vestas, expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We are thrilled and grateful for the trust that Prime Capital and Polhem Infra are placing in Vestas and our EnVentus platform. We look forward to collaborating closely in the coming years. Despite challenges in Sweden’s green transition, investments like this demonstrate the strong and ongoing demand for clean, cost-effective energy solutions.”

Dr. Mathias Bimberg, Head of Infrastructure at Prime Capital, added, “We are excited to partner with Polhem Infra on these two projects. This collaboration marks an important step forward in our commitment to sustainable energy solutions. We are also grateful for our strong partnership with Vestas, as together we continue to drive progress in Sweden’s renewable energy sector.”

Polhem Infra’s CEO, Anna Elmfeldt, concluded, “Investing in sustainable infrastructure for future generations is our core focus. We are proud to partner with Prime Capital on these projects, and we believe that with Vestas’ technology, we can achieve success in leading Sweden’s energy transition.”

Turbine delivery is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning slated for completion by the fourth quarter of the same year.
