Tungaloy Unveils New STV Insert for Precision Internal Grooving and Profiling in Complex, Narrow Areas!

Tungaloy-NTK America Inc. has expanded its TungShortCut internal grooving tool line with the introduction of the STV-type insert, designed to improve precision in internal profiling and the machining of complex shapes or narrow areas. This addition complements the series’ existing offerings, such as the DGS-type insert for grooving and the DTR-type for full-radius applications. The new STV insert, measuring 9 mm in length, features a 35-degree corner angle that allows for efficient wall and bottom machining in confined spaces where traditional V-shaped inserts may struggle.

The TungShortCut toolholders accommodate small diameters, supporting machining as narrow as 12 mm, making the tool highly effective for small-diameter internal groove profiling. The STV insert includes a JS-style chipbreaker that optimizes chip control, especially in profiling operations with variable depth cuts, enhancing efficiency. Additionally, the PVD-coated AH725 grade used in these inserts provides durability across a variety of workpiece materials, ensuring consistent, long-lasting performance.
