Hypertherm Associates and BLM Group Forge Strategic Partnership!
Hypertherm Associates and BLM Group have entered into a strategic partnership designed to broaden the market…
The SimMill 9W series by Simtek AG introduces a milling solution that offers the precision and stability of monoblock tools combined with the cost-efficiency of interchangeable cutting inserts. Designed specifically for the automotive industry, the SimMill 9W4 system is engineered to perform under challenging conditions such as confined spaces or applications requiring long overhangs
The SimMill 9W4 system features interchangeable cutting inserts that deliver near-monoblock performance in power transmission and precision. Its advanced gearing technology ensures high stability, making it ideal for applications requiring high torques. Furthermore, the system’s ground gearing provides superior radial and axial runout precision while minimizing wear at the interface between the toolholder and cutting insert.
The SimMill 9W4 system supports milling depths of up to 16.5 mm, with cutting inserts available in widths from 0.5-6.0 mm. Each insert is equipped with 12 straight or cross-toothed cutting edges, enabling high cutting performance and reduced machining times. Additionally, the tool’s shank diameter is up to three times smaller than the cutting insert, enhancing its adaptability in constrained setups. The integrated coolant supply ensures efficient cooling and extends tool life.
Simtek’s modular design reduces material consumption compared to monoblock tools. While worn monoblock tools require complete replacement after one or more regrindings, the SimMill 9W4 system only necessitates the replacement of cutting inserts. This approach significantly lowers production costs, minimizes resource usage, and reduces the carbon footprint, making it a sustainable choice for modern manufacturing.
The SimMill 9W series also includes the 9W1 variant, which supports a maximum milling depth of 9.3 mm and cutting widths from 1.2-2.5 mm. Both the 9W4 and 9W1 variants are compatible with steel and carbide toolholders, ensuring versatility across a broad range of applications.
By integrating sustainable practices, Simtek ensures its SimMill 9W series aligns with eco-friendly production methods. The system’s ability to extend tool life and reduce waste underscores its commitment to sustainability, delivering exceptional performance without compromising environmental responsibility.
The SimMill 9W series is a versatile, robust, and eco-conscious solution that redefines precision milling with its innovative design and efficiency-focused features.
