Rego-Fix USA, a Swiss-based tool-holding specialist, in collaboration with several industry partners, proudly inaugurated its new Center for Machining Excellence (CME) in Whitestown, Indiana, on October 24, 2024. Located just 30 minutes from the Indianapolis International Airport, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by key stakeholders from the machining, cutting tool, and distributor sectors, all of whom anticipate significant benefits from the collaboration and training opportunities facilitated by the new center.
The newly established CME spans 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) and complements Rego-Fix’s existing 18,000 square feet (1,672 square meters) facility in Whitestown, which originally opened in 2016. Together, these joined facilities create a comprehensive 28,000 square feet (2,601 square meters) center dedicated to serving Rego-Fix’s customers and the broader machining community. The existing facility employs 25 individuals and primarily functions as Rego-Fix’s hub for service, repair, and training within the United States. Additionally, it serves as a warehousing space for new and replacement products, ensuring expedited domestic delivery when needed. The new CME is expected to add five full-time employees and bring in industry experts for specialized training on an as-needed basis.
Previously, collaboration among Rego-Fix’s customers occurred sporadically and incidentally, as partners happened to cross paths. The establishment of the CME introduces a significant space for intentional collaboration among Rego-Fix’s partners, fostering industry cross-pollination. Derek Minter, Southeast Account Manager for HWR Workholding USA Inc., described the event and the mission of the new facility as providing “a fresh perspective on how manufacturers and distributors can work together.” He emphasized the importance of sharing ideas for the betterment of the industry, collaboratively solving problems, and finding synergies between technologies that benefit the machining community.
This enhanced collaboration is expected to accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market timelines. David McHenry, Senior Engineer and CME Manager at Rego-Fix USA, highlighted the critical role of precision in industries such as aerospace and defense. “We have been seeing a lot of work being done on rockets, especially engines,” McHenry noted, underscoring the importance of high-precision toolholding solutions in these demanding sectors.
The CME not only provides state-of-the-art facilities but also serves as a hub for ongoing education and professional development. By bringing together industry leaders and fostering an environment of continuous learning, Rego-Fix aims to drive advancements in machining technology and best practices. The presence of partners like Kern Mikrotechnik at the ribbon-cutting ceremony exemplifies the collaborative spirit that the CME embodies, setting the stage for future innovations and strengthened industry relationships.
Sandeep Tandon, Executive Chairman of Rego-Fix USA, stated, “The opening of our Center for Machining Excellence marks a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting the machining community. By providing a dedicated space for collaboration and training, we are empowering our partners to achieve greater efficiency, precision, and innovation in their operations.”
With the addition of the CME, Rego-Fix USA reinforces its position as a key player in the machining industry, dedicated to delivering high-quality tooling solutions and fostering a collaborative environment that drives collective success. The new center is poised to become a cornerstone for machining excellence, offering unparalleled support and resources to customers and partners alike.
