The MTDCNC team has been making a splash in Europe, having travelled thousands of miles in just six weeks. With an explosion of visitors to our channel, it’s no surprise that European trips have become a regular feature on their calendar.
The year started with Paul visiting Starrag’s factory in Bielefeld, where he saw one of the largest machines he has ever encountered – a massive vertical multi-tasking machine. Paul previously spent three years working on a Dorries vertical borer after completing his apprenticeship, so this visit was somewhat nostalgic. The team were invited to Bielefeld to marvel at a monstrous multi-tasking vertical lathe/boring machine. Here’s a link to whet your appetite: https://mtdcnc.com/news/starrag-uk-limited/this-hybrid-mill-turn-machine-from-starrag-is-built-for-large-part-machining-systems.
A whole series of videos showcasing this machine will hit their YouTube channel in the coming weeks.
Just a few days later, MTDCNC visited NEUMAN & ESSER, a BOST customer in Germany, and on site, Rowan and his team were amazed by the installation and operation of huge VTLs using head-changing and robot-loaded tooling technologies. Seeing machines of this size and capability is mind-blowing and shows how BOST has established itself in various industries as a pedigree machine tool solution. In parallel to this, MTDCNC also had a team visit Zayer in Spain with Mills CNC. Tony Dale and Paul spent two days at Zayer’s factory filming how the machine tools are made and assembled from start to finish. The new Zero machine was one of the focuses, and this model will be available to view at Mills CNC in the summer. Zayer prides itself on its head technology, particularly its 30-degree head, known for its flexibility and rigidity. Videos showcasing this, the facility, the new Zero machine, and details of Mills CNC’s and Zayer’s partnership are coming soon to MTDCNC.

Next up, Paul, Lyndsey, and a six-strong film team visited the DMG MORI open house in Pfronten, Germany at the start of February, where seven world premieres were on display. This was one of THE shows to attend in Q1 of 2023. Two days in Pfronten are always fabulous, whether it’s winter or summer, with snow, slopes, sausages, and, of course, machine tool technology what’s not to like. But that’s not it – MTDCNC were also at the Steelfab show in Dubai in January, supporting our new Middle Eastern reporter, Mohammed and as we speak, we have two crews in Ireland – one returning from Turkey, filming for Siemens, and another two reporters traveling up and down North America, satisfying our viewers’ needs outside of Europe and the UK. These are busy times for MTDCNC. If you would like any of our intrepid journalists to visit your European site or beyond, please contact us at sales@mtdcnc.com.
