ABB Robotics has announced a collaboration with U.S. start-up Molg to develop robotic microfactories aimed at…
Mighty Buildings Inc. (Oakland, California, USA) is establishing its newest manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico. The new Monterrey facility, which is powered by innovative 3D printing technology that leverages the company’s patented composite materials, is capable of producing components for an entire home on each day of operation and is focused on scaling the development of Mighty Buildings’ homes in the Southern California region, beginning with Desert Hot Springs.
“With the opening of our factory in Monterrey, Mexico, Mighty Buildings has taken a significant step forward in the accelerated growth and adoption of sustainable, net-zero energy homes,” says Mighty Buildings CEO Scott Gebicke. “This also demonstrates Mighty Buildings’ ability to drive the future of home construction by establishing scalable manufacturing operations close to where they are needed, allowing Mighty Buildings to quickly serve areas in urgent need of climate-resilient housing, as well as meet the needs of our developer partners.”
Mighty Buildings claims that by combining novel material science, robotics, and automation, it can create climate-resilient, carbon-neutral housing that is comfortable, beautiful, and resistant to severe weather such as hurricanes and earthquakes. This is made possible by Mighty Buildings’ proprietary, concrete-free composite stone substance, which is said to be up to five times stronger than concrete while being up to 30% lighter in weight and costing up to 15% less per square foot.
