Walter USA has introduced the Walter Turn toolholder with a flexible coolant system and screw clamping, specifically designed to…
Bar peeling, a demanding machining operation also known as skiving, requires specialized expertise at the forefront. Boehlerit, renowned for its prowess in this field, introduces complete tool systems designed for successful bar peeling, encompassing peeling heads, holders, and cassettes.
This kinematically reversed longitudinal round turning process involves passing the workpiece concentrically through a rotating tool, the peeling head. Bar peeling, economically viable for diameters ranging from 20 to 500 millimeters, facilitates feed rates of up to 18 millimeters per revolution, surpassing conventional turning capabilities by multiple folds. Accompanied by appropriate cassette systems, cutting depths of up to 15 millimeters are achievable.
However, the challenges of bar peeling, including heavy cutting and the processing of challenging materials like stainless steels and nickel-based alloys, demand expertise and meticulous attention. Process reliability hinges on the machine operator’s experience, crucial for avoiding catastrophic insert breakages.
Boehlerit, equipped with a wealth of experience and cutting-edge coating technologies, leads the way in enhancing performance through new coating developments. Simulation software aids in developing optimal plate geometries, considering chip flow, temperatures, and forces to achieve superior results. With a diverse range of geometries tailored to various material classes, Boehlerit ensures efficient machining across applications.
Innovative solutions such as new WSP grades for duplex and superduplex steel machining, nanotechnology-infused grades like LC228E, and the BCP35P grade for the round insert RNMH 5018 exemplify Boehlerit’s commitment to advancing bar peeling technology.
As a carbide pioneer, Boehlerit Group has been a leading manufacturer of wear protection solutions and cutting tools since 1932. With a global presence and comprehensive expertise, Boehlerit continues to drive process reliability, efficiency, and tool productivity worldwide.
Together with sister companies Leitz and Bilz, forming the Brucklacher Group, Boehlerit Group stands at the forefront of innovation, serving diverse industries with precision tools and cutting-edge solutions.
