This facility will focus on producing latches and mirrors for major carmakers in western India. Spread across 65,000 square feet, the new plant is expected to generate over 300 jobs within the next three years, further strengthening Magna’s footprint in the Indian automotive sector.

Magna has been expanding its operations in India to meet the growing global demand for automotive components. The company currently employs 7,000 people across 14 manufacturing and assembly facilities, along with five engineering, product, and sales offices throughout the country.

The investment in Maharashtra aligns with the rising demand for automotive suppliers in India, as the Indian automotive component industry reached ₹5.6 trillion in turnover for FY23, according to the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA).

Magna is recognized worldwide for designing and manufacturing cutting-edge automotive systems, integrating assemblies, modules, and components for major global car manufacturers. The expansion in Chakan underscores India’s growing role in global automotive supply chains and Magna’s commitment to supporting mobility advancements with high-quality, locally manufactured solutions.

With this latest investment, Magna further cements its position as a key partner for automakers in India, enhancing its capabilities in precision engineering and next-generation automotive components.
