Jamco America Partners with Airtech for Sustainable 3D Printing Tool Recycling!

Jamco America, Inc. has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Airtech Advanced Materials Group to revolutionize aerospace manufacturing through 3D printing (3DP) tool recycling. This collaboration aims to accelerate the production of finished goods while reducing risks, costs, and carbon footprints. By prioritizing sustainable products and practices, both companies are setting new standards for environmentally conscious aerospace manufacturing.

The partnership between Jamco and Airtech began in 2006, with Airtech supplying composite manufacturing consumables and supporting materials. In 2021, the collaboration expanded into large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) tooling. This development enables Jamco to explore LFAM for high-temperature applications, addressing the limitations of traditional composite layup tooling.

This approach significantly reduces lead times and supply chain delays while improving performance and lowering the risk of defects in finished parts.

The LFAM molds produced by Airtech utilize the Dahltram I350CF thermoplastic resin, a fully recyclable polymer. Depending on the requirements, Airtech can grind and compound this resin into a blended or 100% recycled formulation. Current testing is focused on optimizing formulations for high-performance applications such as aerospace tooling and molds.

Through this partnership, Jamco America and Airtech Advanced Materials Group are pushing the boundaries of aerospace innovation. Their efforts highlight the potential of sustainable technologies to transform industries, ensuring cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. This initiative underscores their commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability in aerospace.
