The Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) 2024 is gearing up to host a groundbreaking event at Singapore EXPO from October 14-16, 2024, focusing on the future of manufacturing powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability. This year’s edition, themed around “AI and Sustainability in Manufacturing”, will highlight the transformative role AI plays in driving growth and fostering eco-friendly practices across diverse manufacturing sectors. The event will showcase how AI integration can accelerate business growth while aligning with global climate goals, making it an essential platform for industry leaders, innovators, and governments across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Asia-Pacific region is at the forefront of smart manufacturing, with the industry projected to grow at an impressive 15.7% CAGR by 2030. Countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia are rapidly rolling out AI policies to accelerate its adoption in manufacturing, which is crucial for maintaining global competitiveness. Singapore, for example, has set ambitious targets, including tripling its AI workforce to 15,000 by 2029 and investing over US$743.7 million in AI technologies, talent, and infrastructure over the next five years. Similarly, Indonesia’s 2045 Artificial Intelligence National Strategy (Stratnas AI) aims to contribute US$366 billion to the nation’s economy in the next decade, further cementing the region’s leadership in AI.
Across various industries, the adoption of AI is already making significant impacts. For instance, Rolls-Royce leverages AI for predictive analytics and maintenance of aircraft engines at its Seletar campus, improving reliability while minimizing downtime. ST Engineering has also integrated AI in its production processes, enhancing both efficiency and product quality. As these examples illustrate, the integration of AI is not only boosting productivity but also transforming the operational dynamics of manufacturing companies across Asia.
ITAP 2024 will introduce cutting-edge solutions that underscore the importance of sustainable manufacturing. This year’s event will delve deeper into three pivotal trends: Digitalisation of Operations, Sustainable Practices, and Resilient Supply Chains. By showcasing how manufacturers can integrate AI technology to optimize processes, lower operational costs, and reduce environmental impact, ITAP 2024 seeks to provide a roadmap for achieving environmentally conscious industrial growth.
In particular, ITAP 2024 will highlight the significance of resilient, antifragile supply chains that are adaptable to market changes. The event will encourage manufacturers to adopt secure, intelligent operations by integrating systems, data, and people, fostering seamless and cost-efficient processes. Additionally, the focus on sustainable manufacturing practices will offer businesses solutions to strike the right balance between profitability and environmental responsibility.
The AI Discovery Journey at ITAP 2024 is set to offer participants an in-depth look into how AI is revolutionizing manufacturing across the Asia-Pacific region. The journey will feature innovative solutions, real-world applications, and engaging discussions, all aimed at demonstrating AI’s potential to drive secure, resilient, and sustainable industrial practices. This initiative promises to be one of the key attractions of the event, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of AI’s transformative capabilities.
In collaboration with global management consultancy firm Kearney, ITAP 2024 will also launch a pioneering whitepaper titled “Regenerative Manufacturing – Unlocking ASEAN’s Growth through Design and AI”. The whitepaper will offer practical approaches for companies to remain profitable and resilient while contributing to the reshaping of manufacturing ecosystems across the region. This resource is expected to serve as a strategic guide for businesses looking to thrive in the face of evolving environmental and economic challenges.
Building on the success of ITAP 2023, which saw 308 exhibitors and over 16,000 visitors from more than 70 countries, the 2024 edition aims to deepen its impact with over 400 exhibitors. Industry giants like Amazon Web Services, Azbil, Jungheinrich, and Redhat will be leading the charge in showcasing the latest advancements in AI and sustainable manufacturing technologies.
Educational institutions, including Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Polytechnic, will also feature prominently, presenting their cutting-edge research and developments in advanced manufacturing technologies. These partnerships between industry and academia will play a crucial role in fostering innovation and ensuring that the region’s manufacturing sector remains competitive on the global stage.
ITAP 2024’s emphasis on AI and sustainability will not only shape the future of the manufacturing industry but also reinforce the event’s position as a leading platform for collaboration, innovation, and industry growth. With its focus on emerging technologies like AI, quantum computing, and robotics, ITAP 2024 promises to unlock new growth frontiers for manufacturers and offer a pathway to a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.
