GAC Honda Launches New Energy Vehicle Production Line in Guangzhou!

Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned Honda subsidiary in China, has announced the start of operations at the Development District NEV Factory. This newly constructed facility, located in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development District in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, has been developed by GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. to specialize in new energy vehicle (NEV) production. This marks a significant milestone in adopting advanced, efficient, and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

The factory incorporates the latest production technologies to create a highly efficient, smart, and low-carbon manufacturing system. Key innovations include fully automating parts logistics in the stamping and welding processes, eliminating the need for logistics personnel. Additionally, AI-based welding strength inspection has been introduced for the first time at a Honda plant. In the assembly process, around 30% of tasks are automated, optimizing productivity and minimizing human intervention.

Environmental sustainability is a central focus of the factory’s design. It features solar power systems with a total capacity of 22 megawatts, which are expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 13,000 tons. The facility also employs newly developed low-VOC paints and has installed equipment to treat 100% of toxic substances in factory wastewater. These measures aim to significantly minimize environmental impact, with VOC emissions from the plant targeted to be reduced by more than 70% compared to the regulatory limits set by Guangdong Province.

The Development District NEV Factory demonstrates Honda’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility. With this initiative, GAC Honda is not only contributing to the growth of the NEV sector in China but also setting new standards in sustainable automotive manufacturing. This forward-thinking approach aligns with Honda’s global goals of advancing electric mobility while promoting eco-friendly practices across its operations.
