Fictiv, a global leader in digital manufacturing, has unveiled its Automated Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Tool for Injection Molding, marking an industry-first. This innovative tool provides engineers with instant, actionable design feedback, aimed at improving product quality and accelerating the time to market. By offering real-time insights, it streamlines the injection molding process, minimizing costly delays and optimizing tool designs from the beginning.
The Automated DFM Tool combines data-driven insights with human expertise, helping reduce the cycles of revisions, testing, and mold validation. This integration leads to faster, more efficient processes and avoids bottlenecks, ensuring engineers can fine-tune designs before production starts. The result is significant time savings and lower manufacturing costs.
Key features of the Automated DFM include a Draft Review, which provides a color-coded analysis of draft angles to suggest adjustments for easier mold release. The Thickness Review highlights potential wall thickness issues, such as warping or sink marks, using a heat map. Additionally, an Undercut Analysis offers a graphical review of undercuts that require secondary tooling motions, while the Parting Line Projection feature helps engineers plan for mold separation early in the process.
By incorporating this tool early in the design phase, engineers can optimize manufacturing efficiency, reduce delays, and bring products to market faster.
