EOS, a leading provider of additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, has announced plans to expand its production capacity at its Pflugerville, Texas facility in early Q1 2025. The expansion will focus on the assembly of the widely popular EOS M 290 metal AM system to meet increasing demand for industrial 3D printing solutions across North America.
The EOS M 290, which has over 2,000 units installed globally, is one of the most widely adopted metal AM systems in sectors such as medical, aerospace, tooling, and energy. Equipped with a 400w precision fiber laser and a build area of 250 x 250 x 325 mm, the M 290 offers remarkable versatility and the largest material compatibility portfolio on the market, supporting metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys, and more. Its scan speed of 7.0 m/s enables fast, high-precision production for a wide array of applications, making it an ideal choice for industries requiring top-tier 3D printed components.
According to Kent Firestone, Senior Vice President of Operations for EOS North America, the decision to ramp up production in Texas was driven by both the rising demand for the EOS M 290 and favorable governmental policies encouraging domestic manufacturing. “We’ve been producing AM products in the U.S. for 14 years. Expanding production of our EOS M 290 at our Pflugerville facility aligns with growing demand and our commitment to fulfilling North American orders,” said Firestone.
EOS has a long-standing presence in North America, having produced AM hardware, software, and materials for nearly two decades. The company already manufactures the INTEGRA P 450 polymer AM system at its Pflugerville facility, alongside polymer materials production by its Advanced Laser Materials (ALM) group in Temple, Texas. The expansion of metal AM systems will further enhance EOS’s capability to meet the needs of industries across North America.
The EOS M 290 has earned numerous awards and accolades for its precision, efficiency, and material versatility, solidifying its reputation as a leader in industrial 3D printing. The Texas facility will initially focus on producing the single-laser version of the system, ensuring continued high performance and quality that EOS customers have come to expect.
With this expansion, EOS is poised to strengthen its foothold in the North American market, supporting the growing demand for cutting-edge additive manufacturing solutions and reinforcing the importance of domestic production in key industries.
