Cisco Expands Manufacturing Footprint with New Facility Near Chennai!

Cisco, in collaboration with Flex, has officially opened a new manufacturing facility located approximately 50 km west of Chennai. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, Cisco’s Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins, and Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa.

This facility marks the first phase of a multi-year initiative that is expected to generate around USD 1.3 billion in annual revenue through a combination of exports and domestic production. Initially, the Sunkuwarchatiram facility will focus on manufacturing Cisco’s Network Convergence System (NCS) 540 Series routers and is projected to create approximately 1,200 jobs.

Looking ahead, future phases of the project will introduce significant technological advancements, including the assembly of multi-layer printed circuit board components and the production of industrial-grade products designed to endure harsh environmental conditions. This development represents a key milestone in the long-standing partnership between Cisco and Flex, aimed at enhancing global manufacturing capabilities.

With the establishment of this manufacturing facility, India is set to become both a local market and an export hub for Cisco, allowing the company to improve its technical manufacturing capabilities and better serve a broader customer base.
