CEAT, a leading tyre manufacturer in India, has commissioned a new state-of-the-art Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) production line at its Chennai facility. The new line is expected to increase the company’s daily production capacity to 1,500 tyres within the next year, positioning CEAT to meet growing demand for high-performance tyres in both domestic and international markets.
This expansion complements CEAT’s existing production of premium Passenger Car Radial (PCR) and Motorcycle Radial (MCR/MCS) tyres. It aligns with the company’s focus on safety, environmental conservation, and the adoption of digital technologies, ensuring CEAT is well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of automobile manufacturers worldwide.
Commenting on the development, Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director & CEO of CEAT, highlighted that the new TBR line is a crucial component of the company’s international expansion strategy. “With this line, CEAT is now capable of offering a full range of tyres to key markets in Europe and the U.S.,” he said.
Jayasankar Kurruppal, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, emphasized the plant’s technical and safety advancements, noting that innovative solutions developed within India were integral to the design of key equipment.
Located in Sriperumbudur, CEAT’s Chennai plant stands out as a smart factory, featuring connected machinery, real-time data analytics, and enhanced automation. These advancements contribute to greater efficiency, safety, and product quality. Additionally, the plant is committed to sustainability, boasting 25% green coverage and generating 40% of its energy from renewable sources. A 5 MW rooftop solar system is already in place, with the goal of reaching 50% renewable energy usage by 2025.
