Atlas Composite Technologies Enhances IT Infrastructure with Major Upgrade from Your IT Department

Atlas Composite Technologies Ltd, an East Midlands-based engineering company with a turnover exceeding £9 million, has successfully completed a major IT infrastructure upgrade in collaboration with award-winning IT support and cybersecurity firm, Your IT Department. The company, which manufactures components for sectors including motorsport, aerospace, satellite communications, and Formula One (F1) cars, sought to improve the speed and security of its computer systems to keep up with the growing demands of its business.

Following a comprehensive technical audit, a plan was developed to overhaul Atlas’s IT infrastructure, with the goal of creating a faster, more secure network. The project included the installation of two high-speed servers, the addition of a new firewall for enhanced cybersecurity, and the establishment of a secure VPN (virtual private network) to provide staff with quicker and safer access to the company’s computer systems.

Ben Swain, managing director of Atlas Composite Technologies, expressed satisfaction with the improvements made at the company’s Ilkeston site. “With the company growing, we realised that our IT infrastructure needed upgrading to handle the increasing volume of data. For example, we rely heavily on CAD/CAM software, and it’s critical that our complex projects are securely backed up,” Swain said.

He also highlighted the immediate positive impact of the upgrade: “The IT improvements have been impressive and have made a significant difference to the smooth operation of the company. The team at Your IT Department even worked out-of-hours, including Sundays, to minimise disruption. Additionally, this upgrade has positioned us to obtain Cyber Essentials Plus certification, which will help us demonstrate our ability to protect against common cyberattacks.”
