Ak-Pres, a Turkish manufacturer of structural parts for global automotive OEMs and part of Küçükoğlu Holding, has placed a third major order with German press manufacturer Schuler for a TML4-1600 press. This latest addition to Ak-Pres’ production line follows a longstanding partnership with Schuler that began in 2016 and has already seen the delivery of two high-capacity servo presses.
Founded in 1990, Ak-Pres operates facilities in Bursa and Sakarya, where it has built a reputation for producing high-quality automotive components. The company first worked with Schuler in 2016 when Schuler conducted engineering calculations for the company’s future customer needs. In 2018, Schuler installed a 1,600-tonne servo press, followed by a 2,000-tonne servo press in 2022. The newly ordered TML4-1600 press, which will be delivered in 2025, differs from its predecessors as it features a conventional link drive rather than a servo drive.
Scheduled for delivery in August 2025, the new press will feature a bed length of 6,100mm and a bed width of 2,500mm. Schuler will handle the entire engineering process, including assembly, commissioning, and final acceptance of the press, along with the integration of a transfer unit and blank loader into the system.
This TML4-1600 press is part of Schuler’s Triton series, which offers a modular system that allows Ak-Pres to customize the press according to its specific production requirements. The Triton presses also feature an advanced user interface and tools like ‘Optimizer’ and ‘Smart Assist’, designed to help operators maximize output and efficiency.
Once the assembly is completed, Schuler expects the press to begin production by November 2025, further enhancing Ak-Pres’ manufacturing capabilities and reinforcing its position in the global automotive supply chain.
