ABB Robotics Sponsors MassRobotics to Propel Innovation in Robotics!

ABB Robotics is proud to announce its sponsorship of MassRobotics, a premier innovation hub and startup accelerator dedicated to advancing robotics in the United States. This strategic partnership underscores ABB Robotics’ commitment to fostering innovation, education, and the development of cutting-edge technologies within the robotics industry.

As part of this sponsorship, ABB Robotics will donate several of its versatile GoFa™ 5kg collaborative robots (cobots)and licenses to its RobotStudio® simulation programming software to MassRobotics. These state-of-the-art cobots and software licenses will provide emerging companies with access to advanced technology, driving innovation and development in the robotics sector. By equipping startups with ABB’s superior robot arms and simulation tools, MassRobotics will enhance its support for developing products and solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible in automation and robotics.

John Bubnikovich, President of ABB Robotics, US, stated, “By providing our cobots and software to some of the brightest and most innovative engineers in the United States, we are not only helping startups push the boundaries of what’s possible but also benefiting from the fresh perspectives and groundbreaking ideas that emerge from this dynamic community.” This collaboration represents a significant opportunity for ABB to engage with the next wave of robotics talent and contribute to the creation of technologies that will shape the future of the industry.

MassRobotics is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of robotics companies by offering a collaborative workspace, advanced facilities, and comprehensive support programs. The addition of ABB’s GoFa™ cobots will enhance these resources, enabling startups to experiment, prototype, and refine their robotics solutions with the backing of industry-leading technology. Andrea Cassoni, Global Head of Collaborative Robotics and Partnerships Development at ABB Robotics, emphasized, “The GoFa™ 5kg is designed for a wide range of applications, including assembly, testing, and material handling. Known for their ease of use, safety, and precision, these cobots can safely operate alongside human workers without the need for bulky barriers, offering maximum flexibility and efficiency.”

The sponsorship highlights ABB’s ongoing commitment to innovation and education in robotics. By equipping MassRobotics with advanced cobots, ABB aims to facilitate the development of impactful solutions that address real-world challenges across various industries. This initiative aligns with ABB’s broader strategy to support technological advancement and foster collaborations that drive sustainable growth within the manufacturing and robotics sectors.

Tom Ryden, Executive Director of MassRobotics, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are extremely grateful for ABB’s support and donation. The addition of ABB’s cobots to our facilities will provide our member companies with unparalleled opportunities to experiment, prototype, and refine their robotics solutions. This partnership will undoubtedly accelerate the pace of innovation and help our startups bring their ideas to life.”

Earlier this year, ABB initiated its Robotics AI Startup Challenge, a global competition designed to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in robotics. The challenge has received numerous applications, which are currently being evaluated. The winning team will be announced this fall and will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with ABB’s world-class engineers, access advanced robotic technologies, and tap into the company’s extensive global network of customers and partners.

This partnership between ABB Robotics and MassRobotics not only enhances the capabilities of emerging robotics startups but also reinforces ABB’s position as a leader in the automation and robotics industry. By supporting education and innovation, ABB Robotics is helping to build a robust ecosystem that drives the future of robotics forward.
