Viega, the market leader in press technology for metal pipe fittings and valves, will develop a new manufacturing facility in Shalersville, Ohio, roughly 40 miles southeast of Cleveland, for its ProPress and MegaPress products. “This is an exciting time at Viega, as our growth continues to prompt the expansion of our North American footprint,” said Markus Brettschneider, CEO and president of Viega LLC. “This new Ohio facility, along with recent investments in our existing Kansas facility, helps to meet our growing demand and is part of Viega’s plan to increase North American production.” We are excited to expand our footprint in this region of the country to better serve our consumers.”The 80-acre plot in Shalersville and the development of the new factory represent a $200 million investment in Ohio. Viega’s business in the United States is expanding, and the new plant will help meet the rising demand for Viega products. It also meshes with the company’s sustainability aims, which include minimising carbon emissions linked with product imports by manufacturing more items in the United States. The new facility will be carbon neutral from the outset, contributing to the company’s long-term objective of attaining net-zero carbon emissions for all of its plants by 2035.
Viega has announced investments in new equipment for its manufacturing and distribution operation in McPherson, Kansas. Viega also serves its customers and partners through distribution centres in Reno, Nevada and Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with additional North American expansion planned for 2024 and 2025. Viega collaborated with local, regional, and state organisations on tax credit support and the selection of the 80-acre site, including Team NEO, JobsOhio, the Portage Development Board, and the Shalersville-Streetsboro Joint Economic Development District. “We have a great manufacturing legacy, a dedicated talent pool, and future-oriented industry resources to support Viega’s new operations,” stated Bill Koehler, Chief Executive Officer of Team NEO. “We welcome Viega to the Northeast Ohio Region, along with JobsOhio and our local partners.” We are convinced that they will flourish here.” “The expansion of our operations into Ohio demonstrates our commitment to creating highly skilled jobs in the United States,” said Marki Huston, Viega LLC’s head of manufacturing. “Our goal is to continue developing tomorrow’s workforce while also developing more sustainable manufacturing processes.” With manufacturing set to begin in early 2025, we anticipate to begin employing as early as January 2024, adding over 68 new jobs to the area over the next three years.”
