The new electric school bus has a range of 300 miles

GreenPower Motor Company, a builder and distributor of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles for the cargo and delivery market, shuttle and transit area, and school bus sector, presented the Mega BEAST. This latest generation of GreenPower’s all-electric Type D school bus offers double the range while maintaining the same functionality as GreenPower’s trusted and reliable BEAST all-electric school bus, which is used in school bus fleets across the country.

GreenPower’s Mega BEAST is a 40-foot Type D all-electric, purpose-built, zero-emission school bus with a 387 kWh battery pack that gives a class-leading range of up to 300 miles on a single charge. It boasts the longest range and the largest battery pack on the school bus market. The Mega BEAST can seat up to 90 passengers and comes complete with air ride suspension, ABS disc brakes, and the largest pass-through storage possible. The Mega BEAST, with its modern monocoque chassis, is the safest, most robust, most dependable all-electric school bus available. The GreenPower Truss(T) factor is formed by the perfectly integrated aluminium body and chassis design.

The Mega BEAST, which was unveiled at the National Association of Pupil Transportation’s (NAPT) Conference and Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio, is intended to provide a solution for longer-distance routes and other desired purposes by a school district. The increased range provided by the larger battery pack is an ideal solution for many rural school districts with longer routes, fewer opportunities for mid-day charging, extreme weather conditions, and schools that also use the all-electric bus for extra-curricular activities.
