A suite of Fanuc all-electric Roboshot injection moulding machines is helping Poelsan Plastic, a Turkish manufacturer, process 10,500 tonnes of plastic annually, while significantly cutting energy consumption, lowering costs, and enhancing efficiency. With capacities ranging from 50-220 tonnes, the Roboshot a-SiB models have proven essential for Poelsan, which recently expanded its fleet by purchasing another machine to support its automatic irrigation systems manufacturing.
Located near Samsun on Turkey’s Black Sea coast, Poelsan produces over 2,000 different plastic products for industries such as agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and potable water. Their product range includes valves, drip line fittings, and compression fittings. Achieving precision in dimensional stability, aesthetics, and quality is crucial for Poelsan, and they rely on their manufacturing equipment to maintain high standards while minimizing energy usage and improving productivity.
Poelsan was drawn to the Roboshot a-SiB for its all-electric operation, low total cost of ownership, and dependable performance. The machines’ advanced features have been a game changer for the company, which operates from a 67,880m2 state-of-the-art facility. Poelsan now uses several Roboshot machines to meet the growing demand for its products.
Ercan Eren, Director of Operations at Poelsan Plastic, explained: “The Roboshot technology is perfect for reducing mould and machine wear, while also offering precise production parameters and calibration. The machines enhance component quality by improving the mechanical and thermal properties of plastic materials, making it easier to achieve high-quality results in production.”
When Poelsan introduced a new product line for automatic irrigation systems, the Roboshot was again the machine of choice. Eren added, “We wanted to achieve operational excellence while benefiting from energy savings and low maintenance costs. The Roboshot’s performance made it the ideal solution for our needs.”
Energy efficiency is a standout feature of the all-electric Roboshot machines. With innovative servo technology and an intelligent energy recovery system, the machines use up to 70% less energy than their hydraulic counterparts. They also eliminate the need for oil treatment and disposal, and no cooling water is required, as the machines rely on air cooling instead. These features, combined with fewer parts and high spare part availability, contribute to the machine’s attractive total cost of ownership (TCO).
Filiz Dağdelen Günday, Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors for Poelsan, concluded: “Fanuc’s injection moulding technologies have helped us reduce costs and maintain high-quality control. We are proud to partner with Fanuc as a reliable supplier for our operations.”
