Remove the Bottleneck in small Precision Engineered Component Inspection
The inspection process for small precision engineered components can often be a bottleneck in companies. The measurement process are the methods used are typically manual, do not provide any live “feedback” comparison against CAD and are subject to human interpretation.
The Bruker Alicona solution to this is an automated Pick, Measure and Place system based on their range of optical 3D measurement devices coupled with collaborative robot.
With this solution manufactured components are placed into suitable racks/holders, these are then picked up with mechanical fingers and placed onto a holder located in the measurement system being used.
The optical measurement device then captures a 3D model of the features to be measured and this is compared against CAD data with go/no go tolerances providing an instant measurement result and places the component into a good or not good part.
The whole process is controlled by an Automation Manager and data can be fed back to the manufacturing process to correct any errors ensuring subsequent parts are not produced with the same errors. This complete closed loop process ensures each part is a good part and removes the effect of human influence
