Alzmetall Debuts High-Precision GS1200/5T Five-Axis Machining Center with Advanced Capabilities for Milling and Cutting

Alzmetall Machine Tools USA has unveiled the GS1200/5T, a cutting-edge five-axis simultaneous machining center engineered for top-tier performance in precision milling and cutting operations. This advanced machine is equipped with three direct drive torque motors in the A- and C-axes, enhancing its capability to handle complex machining tasks with exceptional accuracy and speed.

The GS1200/5T features an innovative gantry design that supports high-speed cutting, hard milling, and dry milling processes, all while maintaining extreme stiffness and dynamic responsiveness. Central to this design is the box-in-box travel carriage system with a Z-axis monobloc configuration, ensuring that the tool remains on the center point throughout the machining work envelope. This system is complemented by a robust construction that includes four linear guide rails and dual axis ball screws in the X-, Y-, and Z-axes, which together provide the necessary stiffness and rigidity for machining even the hardest alloys.

A key highlight of the GS1200/5T is its ability to maintain thermal consistency at the tool center point (TCP) at the X-Y level without the need for thermal compensation. This feature ensures high precision and reliability during extended machining operations. Additionally, the machine offers hybrid machining capabilities, allowing for a seamless combination of milling, drilling, turning, and grinding within a single setup, thereby maximizing efficiency and reducing production times.

The ergonomic design of the GS-Series further enhances its usability, offering operators easy access to the machining table for loading and unloading parts, either through the front door or with the assistance of an overhead crane. This user-friendly approach not only improves operational efficiency but also contributes to a safer working environment.

The benefits of the GS1200/5T extend beyond its immediate machining capabilities. By reducing cutting tool costs, maintaining contour consistency at high path velocities, and ensuring high parallel-path precision through dual servo-drives on each axis, the machine promises to deliver a lower total cost of ownership over its lifespan. Alzmetall’s latest innovation stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to providing industry-leading solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern manufacturing.
