GROB China successfully showcased its latest innovations at the CCMT 2024 in Shanghai, held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Under the theme “Smart solutions made by GROB,” the company highlighted advanced automation solutions and machining technology, including the GRC-R12 robot cell and the G320 machining center, which demonstrated live machining of a cylinder block. Additionally, GROB presented the G550T machining center for transmission gear machining and showcased developments in digitalization, service, and e-mobility.
Christian Müller, GROB’s CSO, noted the high interest and dynamism at the trade fair, emphasizing China’s rapid technological advancements. The CCMT remains a crucial platform for GROB, particularly amid the growing electrification in the automotive industry. GROB’s conventional machining has thrived in China, meeting the fast-paced demands of Chinese customers for quick delivery of CNC machines.
Despite recent challenges with capacity utilization, GROB China has continued to secure orders in the CNC sector and is pursuing opportunities in e-mobility across Greater Asia. The Dalian plant plays a key role in GROB’s global network, producing machines primarily for the local market and occasionally exporting to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The company plans to introduce a new “Access version” of its universal machines, locally produced in China, to offer competitive pricing while maintaining high technology standards.
