Horn’s D1122 Solid Carbide Drilling System Offers Enhanced Wear Protection and Precision!

Horn USA Inc. introduces the D1122 solid carbide drilling system, designed for efficient and cost-effective drilling in steel and cast materials. Featuring a stable, straight cutting edge, the system minimizes the formation of built-up edges, ensuring more precise and consistent drilling performance. The corner chamfers not only enhance the cutting edge’s wear protection but also contribute to an extended tool life.

The system’s HiPIMS coating provides exceptional wear protection, while the open, precision-ground flutes ensure reliable chip removal during the drilling process. With a customized cutting-edge geometry, the D1122 system delivers high process reliability, allowing for improved overall performance in demanding drilling applications.

The drills are available with point angles of 135 and 140 degrees, both offering enhanced tool stability and reduced friction thanks to two land margins. The 135-degree version is available in an 8 × D version with four land margins, ensuring optimal drilling quality and high positioning accuracy. The 140-degree drill comes in short (3 × D) and long (5 × D) versions, adhering to DIN 6537 standards. Both angles feature an optimized point design for efficient chip formation and effective coolant distribution. Additionally, all versions are equipped with an internal coolant supply, further improving cutting performance.

Horn’s D1122 system is designed to be easily selected based on clearly assigned material groups, helping users choose the right tool for their specific application and achieving improved productivity and tool life.
