WMTS 2025 to Co-Locate with Automation Expo & Conference for a Groundbreaking Manufacturing Showcase!

The Western Manufacturing Technology Show (WMTS) is set to transform Western Canada’s manufacturing landscape with a dynamic showcase of advanced technologies. Taking place from April 9-11, 2025, at the Edmonton Expo Centre, this year’s event promises to inspire and educate manufacturers on adopting emerging technologies and enhancing workforce skills.

Organized by SME, a nonprofit committed to advancing manufacturing innovation, WMTS 2025 will be co-located with the Automation Expo & Conference (AEC), Canada’s largest automation event, hosted by the International Society of Automation Edmonton Section. This strategic partnership will create a central hub for manufacturing and automation professionals to explore cutting-edge solutions and foster collaboration.

According to Steve Prahalis, SME’s Chief Operating Officer, “At WMTS 2025, we’re offering a comprehensive platform to explore advancements in additive manufacturing, automation, and machine learning. Co-locating with AEC amplifies the event’s impact, delivering a broader array of solutions to meet the industry’s evolving needs.”

WMTS 2025 will introduce several exciting features:

  • Executive Perspectives Keynote Series: Insights from industry leaders on future manufacturing trends.
  • Smart Sessions: Educational presentations focusing on the implementation of smart technologies.
  • Interactive Demonstrations: Hands-on experiences showcasing groundbreaking innovations.

With automation driving unprecedented change in manufacturing, the collaboration with AEC will spotlight advancements in automation, robotics, and machine learning. John McKenzie, AEC Director, noted, “Bringing manufacturing and automation professionals together under one roof fosters valuable synergies and accelerates innovation.”

Strategic partners for WMTS 2025 include:

  • Canadian Machine Tool Distributors Association
  • Canadian Tooling & Machining Association
  • CWB-EWI
  • Manufacturing & Export Enhancement Cluster
  • NGen

The event will feature over 100 leading OEMs and suppliers, including Mazak, Elliott Matsuura, and Cascade, showcasing 120,000 pounds (55,000 kilograms) of live machinery and equipment across 30,000 square feet of exhibit space.

With more than 2,000 manufacturing professionals expected to attend, WMTS 2025 will serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and business development in Canada’s manufacturing and automation sectors.
