Midaco Corp. has unveiled its Automatic 4-Pallet Changer, complete with a trunnion system, designed to seamlessly integrate with vertical machining centers (VMCs). This cutting-edge solution enhances productivity by reducing idle time, boosting spindle utilization, and enabling fourth-axis machining on three-axis mills.

The 4-Pallet Changer is engineered for both high-volume production and low-volume, high-mix operations. Its shuttle system enables continuous operation, allowing operators to stage multiple production steps or load various parts across four pallets. As one pallet is machined, others can be prepared, ensuring uninterrupted production cycles and increased efficiency.

Constructed with durable cast aluminum or cast-iron pallets, the system supports XY pallet sizes ranging from 28″ × 15″ to 50″ × 24″. With a repeatability of ±0.0001″, the cast-iron receiver ensures precision machining while accommodating weight capacities of up to 2,000 lbs (908 kg) for larger models. The system’s servo-driven rotary shuttle, automatic door, and CE light curtain prioritize safety and performance.

Midaco’s integrated trunnion system elevates the versatility of the 4-Pallet Changer. By incorporating four trunnions powered by a single fourth-axis rotary indexer, the system simplifies the machining of complex geometries, angled surfaces, and multi-sided components. This innovative design eliminates the need for cable management and minimizes operator intervention, streamlining intricate processes.
