Technoset Ltd, a precision engineering company based in Rugby, has successfully completed a £650,000 investment initiative aimed at enhancing its operational efficiency and establishing a new inspection department. The company, which employs 27 people, participated in a lean workshop hosted by the Warwickshire Manufacturing Growth Programme (WMGP), leading to the development of a streamlined production flow and the creation of a world-class production and inspection cell.
The significant investment includes the installation of two Star SL 10 sliding head lathes and two Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex coordinate measuring machines, enabling the company to provide improved control and traceability for its clients in sectors such as motorsport, aerospace, and consumer electronics.
Adam Land, the newly appointed managing director of Technoset, expressed the value of the lean workshop in guiding the company’s decision-making. He said, “We are always looking for ways to improve our manufacturing performance. The lean workshop helped clarify our goals and gave us the confidence to move forward with this £650,000 investment, which included the addition of new CNC sliding head lathes and a complete overhaul of our inspection facility.”
Land further explained that the company’s expansion efforts have already led to the launch of new projects across emerging sectors such as hydrogen, green energy, communications, and high-performance automotive. Technoset is also exploring additional future opportunities, building on its strong position in the aerospace industry.
Part of the Techno Group, Technoset Ltd specializes in manufacturing high-precision components, including turned parts ranging from 0.4mm to 66mm and milled components up to 800 x 400mm. The company works with a variety of materials, from brass and copper to Inconel and titanium, with a focus on delivering high-quality products to meet the needs of diverse industries.
Despite facing challenging market conditions, Technoset has achieved £3 million in annual sales, with its new production and inspection capabilities expected to support further growth in the years ahead. The company’s success in expanding its offerings into medical, telecommunications, and green energy sectors reflects its ability to adapt and diversify.
Michelle Connor, programme manager for the WMGP, praised Technoset’s efforts, noting, “This is a fantastic example of how we can help manufacturers overcome growth barriers. The lean workshop was a pivotal moment, providing the team with valuable insights that helped guide their investment in factory reorganization and capital equipment.”
The WMGP, which has assisted over 140 companies across the region, continues to offer specialized support to local manufacturers through coaching, consultancy, and workshops. Councillor Louise Robinson of Rugby Borough Council also highlighted the company’s role in the region’s strong manufacturing heritage and its ability to drive innovation and create robust local supply chains.
