TECNALIA and ZAYER Strengthen Collaboration with Acquisition of Kronos 3000 Milling Machine

TECNALIA, a leading technology centre based in the Gipuzkoa Science and Technology Park, has further strengthened its long-standing partnership with ZAYER by acquiring a Kronos 3000 milling machine. This acquisition, which marks more than 15 years of collaboration between the two organisations, will play a pivotal role in advancing TECNALIA’s applied research in machine tools and machining solutions.

The Kronos 3000 will be instrumental in TECNALIA’s mission to accelerate industrial innovation by reducing the time it takes to move new technologies from development to market. With this new equipment, TECNALIA will be able to prototype and optimise machines and processes more quickly, enabling the provision of advanced and efficient machining solutions to various industries.

Kronos 3000: A Game-Changer for Machining Large Parts

The Kronos 3000 is a mobile column milling machine designed specifically for machining large workpieces, making it an ideal tool for industries that work with highly demanding materials. With a power output of up to 60 kW and a spindle speed reaching up to 6,000 rpm, the machine offers exceptional versatility and precision. The machine also features wide travels in all three axes, significantly expanding its range of applications.

One of the key benefits of the Kronos 3000 is its ergonomic design and watertight enclosure, ensuring both a safe working environment and optimal operational efficiency. Additionally, the machine offers impressive positioning accuracy of 0.008 millimetres, making it well-suited for projects that demand high levels of precision in every machining process.

Advancing Industrial Innovation

The acquisition of the Kronos 3000 will allow TECNALIA to not only enhance its research and development capabilities but also contribute to the growth of the industrial sector by providing advanced solutions that help integrate new technologies into industrial processes. However, this machine will be used exclusively for internal TECNALIA projects and collaborations with other companies, and will not be available for direct use by third parties.

A Long-Term Partnership for Innovation

The ongoing collaboration between TECNALIA and ZAYER highlights the shared commitment of both organisations to driving innovation in the machine tool sector. Over the years, this partnership has yielded numerous benefits, contributing to advancements in both research and industrial applications. With the addition of the Kronos 3000, TECNALIA and ZAYER continue to solidify their leadership in developing high-quality technological solutions, advancing the manufacturing sector in Spain and Europe.
