Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) has introduced the MC600 mobile collaborative robot (cobot), marking a significant expansion in its automation solutions. Designed to handle payloads up to 600kg, the MC600 combines MiR’s reliable mobile robot base, the MiR600, with the collaborative robotic arms, UR20/UR30, from Universal Robots (UR). This integration allows the MC600 to automate complex workflows like palletizing, box handling, and machine tending in industrial environments.
Building upon the success of the smaller MC250 model, the MC600 is engineered to handle heavier items and automate tasks in industries that demand high-performance automation. Its integration with the UR20 robotic arms significantly extends its reach, enabling it to perform tasks that were previously beyond the capabilities of smaller cobots. This makes the MC600 ideal for diverse industrial applications, enhancing productivity and flexibility.
With the mobile cobot market projected to grow 46% annually by 2030, the MC600 is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for efficient and flexible automation solutions. According to Jean-Pierre Hathout, President at MiR, the MC600 is designed to provide a safe, repeatable, and easily deployable system that offers companies scalability, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability. Hathout emphasized that the MC600 integrates the “legs” of a mobile robot with the “arms” of a cobot, addressing automation challenges such as palletizing and machine tending with a single system.
The MC600 enhances workplace productivity by operating with minimal downtime and managing tasks like material handling across multiple machines. This allows human workers to focus on higher-value tasks, improving overall efficiency. Moreover, by taking over the movement of heavy goods, the MC600 reduces physical strain on workers, improving ergonomics and boosting workplace safety.
As part of Teradyne Robotics, MiR and UR are leading the way in advanced robotics, continually pushing the boundaries of automation through artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative technologies. The MC600 combines MiR’s expertise in autonomous mobility with UR’s advanced robotics to offer unmatched flexibility, safety, and efficiency. Controlled by a unified software platform developed by MiR Go partner Enabled Robotics, the MC600 integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, simplifying operations and ensuring smooth deployment.
Ujjwal Kumar, Group President of Teradyne Robotics, noted the increasing demand for a mobile cobot capable of handling heavier manufacturing applications. He believes that the MC600 meets this demand, offering customers the flexibility, safety, and efficiency needed to overcome their unique automation challenges.
