Hanon Systems Expands Manufacturing Capability in Canada!

Hanon Systems, a global leader in automotive thermal management, is investing over $155 million to strengthen Ontario’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. This investment will fund a new 284,200-square-foot manufacturing facility in Woodbridge, Ontario, dedicated to producing e-compressors, a critical component for EVs. The facility will be the first of its kind in North America, capable of producing up to 900,000 e-compressors annually, and will create 300 new jobs, further boosting Ontario’s end-to-end EV supply chain.

Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Vic Fedeli, expressed the significance of this expansion, highlighting that Ontario has become an ideal hub for future-focused automotive manufacturing, attracting global parts manufacturers like Hanon Systems. He emphasized that the investment aligns with Ontario’s growth in the EV sector and supports the province’s skilled auto workforce, solidifying its position as a leader in North American automotive manufacturing.

Founded in South Korea, Hanon Systems has been an established player in Ontario’s automotive industry since 1989. The company currently operates facilities in Belleville and Concord, employing over 970 people and supplying auto parts to North American manufacturers. This expansion in Woodbridge will bring Hanon Systems closer to major EV manufacturers, enhancing its ability to meet growing demand for sustainable automotive solutions.

To support this development, Ontario is contributing $10 million through its Invest Ontario Fund. This support reinforces the province’s commitment to advancing its automotive supply chain and to fostering innovation in the electric mobility sector.

The facility’s proximity to vehicle manufacturers will help ensure a steady supply of e-compressors, demonstrating the company’s dedication to supporting the EV market and responding to the increased demand for electrified vehicle components.
