Teledyne Unveils Advanced AI-Driven Smart Camera for Industrial Applications!

Teledyne DALSA, a leading name in machine vision technology and a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies, has launched its latest AI-powered BOA™3 smart camera, designed specifically for industrial automation and inspection tasks. This cutting-edge camera combines the best features of its predecessors with enhanced sensor capabilities and AI inspection technologies, making it a robust solution for tackling complex machine vision applications.

Szymon Chawarski, Product Line Manager for Vision Systems, expressed enthusiasm about the new BOA3, stating, “This represents an exciting advancement in our smart camera technology.” The camera’s modular and flexible design allows for innovative solutions tailored for embedded machine vision inspections, catering to various industry needs.

The BOA3 smart camera boasts sensor resolutions ranging from 1.2 to 12 MP, offering options for integrated or C-mount lenses, onboard I/O, and user-friendly machine vision software—all consolidated on a unified platform. This design ensures that users can achieve high adaptability and functionality, enabling rapid and cost-effective implementations of embedded machine vision systems.

Equipped with the no-code inspection development software, iNspect™, the BOA3 simplifies numerous tasks including positioning, part localization, pattern matching, measurement, barcode reading, feature detection, and optical character recognition (OCR). This is made possible through a pre-trained AI inference network that streamlines the inspection process. Users can also take advantage of traditional vision tools alongside advanced AI classification and object detection models developed with Astrocyte™, Teledyne DALSA’s graphical user interface-based AI training software.

Currently, models of the BOA3 with 1.2 MP, 5 MP, and 12 MP monochrome sensors are available, with color variants anticipated to launch by the end of 2024. Additional sensor and lens options are expected to follow in 2025.

Teledyne DALSA continues to lead in the design and deployment of digital imaging components for machine vision applications, with its cameras, smart cameras, frame grabbers, software, and vision solutions widely utilized in automated inspection systems across various global industries. The introduction of the BOA3 reinforces Teledyne’s commitment to advancing technology in the field of industrial automation.
