Mercedes-Benz India expands sustainability initiative with new CoEs!

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has expanded its sustainability initiative, Sustainability Garage, by launching two new Centres of Excellence (CoEs). Announced at the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Dialogue India 2024 in New Delhi, these centres aim to foster innovation in sustainable mobility and environmental solutions.

The first CoE, the Climate Tech Incubator, will support 25 social enterprises focused on sustainable mobility and environmental innovation. In collaboration with T-Hub, over 500 students will engage in a bootcamp to drive climate tech solutions for decarbonisation.The second CoE, in partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), will provide specialised training for maintaining charging infrastructure, aiming to certify 60 professionals this year.Mercedes-Benz Group Board Member Renata Jungo Brüngger emphasized the company’s commitment to ecological sustainability and community empowerment, while MBRDI CEO Manu Saale expressed confidence in India’s R&D talent to drive global sustainability innovations.These initiatives are part of Mercedes-Benz’s broader efforts to promote sustainability, as highlighted during the event’s discussions on decarbonisation and circularity trends, featuring notable thought leaders including G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.
