Repeatability, ease of use, and shorter setup times with the new modular zero point system.

Rowan Easter-Robinson of MTDCNC is at IMTS 2022 on the Mate Precision Technologies stand, where Benjamin Harrison explains their new workholding system. A design developed over 60 years of manufacturing, the modular zero-point workholding system offers improved repeatability of 5 microns, ease of use, and reduced setup times. Offering more control over workholding, the modular system removes the instability that comes with conventional vices, causing vibrations or harmonics that often result in shorter tool life and poor part quality. The system has a modular base that always sits at zero point and can be used individually or in a series. The self-centering jaws themselves are a quick-change system available in 60mm, 80mm, and 120mm width and are interchangeable from side to side, offering the same dimensional repeatability. With 3 points of clamping, the jaws have a superb clamping force for aluminium or harder materials. If you’ve had enough of conventional vices and want to significantly reduce setup times, get in touch with Mate Precision Technologies at www.mate.com.
