World record holding machine installed at Spirit AeroSystems
Tony Gunn of MTDCNC interviews Keith Lopez of MODIG at Spirit AeroSystems to find out more…
MTDCNC is at B&B Airparts to hear the amazing success story of one of the few remaining independently owned machine shops in Wichita, Kansas. Tony Gunn interviews Chad Tharp, an expert who’s been with B&B Airparts for 11 years and seen the growth of what MODIG has done for the business. Starting off as a simple machine shop for sheet metal parts, B&B Airparts has expanded to over 120,000 square feet. MODIG offered the perfect capabilities for them to produce parts up to 30 feet or more in length, such as stringers for aerospace, with only a few simple jobs and setups. Chad says it’s as simple as feeding the material into the machine and hitting the GO button. MODIG has helped B&B Airparts decrease cycle time, run multiple pulls, lighten the job pressure in the second set, and cut by keeping the spindles stationary while moving the part in and out of the actual cut zone! Hear more from Chad on how B&B Airparts has exponentially grown with the help of HARTWIG as well as MODIG, the only Norwegian machine maker in the world.
